Last Thursday I dusted off my EA Active 2 exercise game for the Wii. It had been a while since I did it and if my memory served, it was a pretty decent workout. I started setting everything up and it asked me if I wanted to use my previously saved profile. I checked yes and that would be my downfall. You see, the last time I used this was over a year ago and I had progressed pretty far. This thing thought I was still at that level. After 20 minutes I was in tears I was in so much pain. In fact, my legs STILL hurt today. Don't get me wrong, it was a good workout, I just wasnt' ready for it. I should have created a new profile and started from the beginning. My kids thought I was dying! I could barely walk on Friday.
Yesterday, I decided to do yard work hoping the activity would help stretch those aching muscles out. I mowed the front and back yard and for the first time in years I did not overheat after about 15 minutes. I take that as a testament at how detrimental my weight was to my overall health. A year ago, I wouldn't have been able to finish the back yard in an hour, much less the front and back yard. In fact, a year ago, I would have been stopping three and four times for water and to put a cold compress on my head. When I was done mowing, I used the weed eater, threw out old toys and swept off the porch. Then it was time to clean out the garage and move holiday decorations into the attic. All in all I met my 10,000 steps a day in about two hours and ended the day with a little over 15,000 steps. That got me a new milestone badge on Fitbit too!
Saturday saw me and my best friend frantically preparing for my daughter's upcoming Frozen birthday party. Have I mentioned how much of a pain this party is turning out to be. First off, why do people NOT RSVP anymore? Out of 20 or so invitations we handed out, we have eight that have said they were coming and three of those are her family and have no choice but to be there! My husband said he thought RSVPs were only if you aren't coming. That got me thinking, maybe he's right and all these years I have thought wrong. Well, I found this on the Emily Post website: From the French, it means “Répondez, s’il vous plaît,” or, “Please reply.” This little code has been around for a long time and it’s definitely telling you that your hosts want to know if you are attending. Reply promptly, within a day or two of receiving an invitation. Yes, I feel a little vindicated, but that still doesn't explain why these people have not let me know if they are coming. I need to know how many kids to plan for! I put April 1, 2014 as the RSVP deadline so hopefully I will more RSVP by tomorrow. Add to that frustration and stress is the fact they are calling for rain this weekend. Granted it's only a 30 - 50% chance, but my luck, it will rain right over my house. I have rented a princess castle bouncer for the kids and I want them to be able to use it.
I read an interesting article this morning about bariatric surgery and how it is proving more effective in treating diabetes than just medications. I know several of my readers have chosen the bariatric surgery option of HEads Up and I was just wondering if you saw any change in your diabetes (if you have it). Click here to read the USA Today article. It was really interesting.
